Family Mediation is unlike other mediation sessions involving commercial disputes. The divorce process is full of
traumas and both parties are often charged with complicated emotions. It is also about the welfare of the children
who are not in the mediation rooms. It requires more skills and personal acumen to excel as a family mediator, to
rebuild trust and an minimal level of cooperation through the process, to earn back the autonomy, to make the
session less rugged and to enable the agreement more enforceable. The Talk aims to explore the dynamics of the
family mediation session from first contact to preparing both parties for the session, from the joint session to
caucus, from assessment of stress level & parenting ability etc. to identification of available options.
