The United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) was established by the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2205 (XXI) of 17 December 1966 and has since come to be the core legal body of the United Nations system in the field of international trade law. The UNCITRAL Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific (UNCITRAL RCAP) established UNCITRAL Asia Pacific Day in 2014 to celebrate this historical resolution.
This year, an initial eleven universities across the region have joined the annual celebration to commemorate the establishment of UNCITRAL and promote awareness of international trade standards and norms, particularly those endorsed by UNCITRAL.
The seminar will look into the impact of United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation (“UNCITRAL Mediation Convention”) on international trade. The
speakers will also explore the application and the importance of the UNCITRAL Mediation Convention in international contract practice and the role of it in the Belt and Road Initiative (“BRI”).
